This mountain landscape is heir to the realist landscape style that dominated Spanish painting during the second half of the nineteenth century. It is a view clearly divided into two planes, the one closest to the viewer with a large meadow with a peasant and his animals. In second instance, a scenographic background dominated by the high peak of the mountain, whose tonalities are colder, reflecting the distance. Through a careful chromatic study, the painter gives physical presence to the first terms using dark and warm, earthy and ocher tones. The light marks the separation between the foreground and the background, directly illuminating the earthy soil and vegetation.
