Maiko Maeda studied her first studies in Tokyo and furthered her education in Madrid (she graduated from the School of Arts and Crafts, studied at the Academia Peña and learned oil painting with masters Eduardo Peña and José Barranco) and New York (Art Student League). He had his first exhibition at the Macarrón Gallery in Madrid. Since then, Maeda has shown his work in solo exhibitions in Tokyo, Madrid, New York, Pennsylvania, St. Petersburg and Teveran. His style, halfway between abstraction and figuration, draws from European and American art, and has expressionist overtones, sometimes recalling masters such as August Macke.
