BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
GUILLEM RAMOS-POQUI (Barcelona, 1944).
"Composition".
Oil on canvas.
Signed and dated in the lower right corner.
Measurements: 60 x 50 cm.
Guillem Ramos-Poqui studied at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona. After a stay as a scholarship holder in Paris and New York, he settled in London in 1968, where he was recognised by the art critics Cirici Pellicer and Corredor-Matheos as the initiator and representative of the young Catalan avant-garde of Arte Povera and Conceptual Art. In London he continued his postgraduate studies at the Slade School of Fine Art (University of London), at the Royal College of Art in London and, finally, the University of Barcelona awarded him a Doctorate in Painting. In London he holds prestigious positions such as Director of Fine Art and Aesthetic Theory at Kensington and Chelsea College. He has exhibited extensively in London and other countries. His recent pictorial work shows the use of multiple spaces that evoke elements inspired by imaginary gardens and landscapes, where images float free from the force of gravity, and colours and textures are combined through harmonic sequences that resemble those of a musical composition.
