DESCRIPTION
ENCARNA SEPÚLVEDA, (Valencia, 1965).
Abstraction, 2010.
Collage on paper.
Signed and dated.
Measurements: 50 x 50 cm, 55 x 55 cm (frame).
Encarna Sepúlveda from a very young age felt a deep connection with art, a vocation that led her to graduate in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 1989. Since then, she has forged a solid career as a visual artist, developing a very personal plastic language that moves between geometry, abstraction and the poetics of space.
Sepúlveda's work is distinguished by a delicate tension between structure and lyricism. In it coexist the stain and the line, the rigor of geometric shapes and an atmosphere of almost spiritual lightness. His chromatic palette, in which luminous greens and blues stand out, evokes the organic, the vegetal, the fruity; not as a literal representation, but as an intimate pulsation of the natural.
Throughout more than three decades of artistic activity, Encarna has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, both in Spain and abroad. She has shown her work in emblematic spaces such as the Centre del Carme in Valencia, the MuVIM, the Chirivella Soriano Foundation or the Sala Rivadavia in Cadiz, and has been present at fairs such as ARCO Madrid, New Art Barcelona or Arte Lisboa.
One of the recent milestones of his career was the retrospective exhibition "Braiding Time", held at the Chirivella Soriano Foundation in 2019. It offered a journey through his work from 2002 to the present, revealing a coherent but open evolution, in which series such as Disonancias, Retazos or Ángulos del vacío account for his constant formal and conceptual research.
In 2021, his plastic sensitivity was recognized with the first prize in the National Painting Contest "El Primero de Fariña", thanks to a work that reinterprets the concept of cluster through a refined geometric synthesis. This award is added to other outstanding recognitions in her career, such as the Alfons Roig Scholarship, the Unión Fenosa Award (MACUF), the Rafael Botí Foundation Award, and various acquisition awards from institutions such as the Universitat Politècnica de València or the Valencia City Council.
Currently, Encarna Sepúlveda continues to reside in the Valencian Community, where she continues to develop her work with the same commitment, sensitivity and depth that have marked her entire career. Her work, deeply introspective but also universal, invites the viewer to stop, to look carefully and to rediscover the beauty in the essential.
