Adolphe François Monfallet was a French painter and dancer of the 19th century. Monfallet studied painting under Michel Drolling, François Édouard Picot and Adolphe Yvon. His work encompassed genre scenes, interiors and historical painting. In addition to his facet as a painter, he was a member of the corps de ballet at the Opéra Garnier in Paris. In 1876, he received a civil pension as a former regisseur of the ballets.
Monfallet participated in the Paris Salon between 1850 and 1882 and was a member of the Société des Artistes Français. His work "Scène de marché au XVIIIe siècle" was exhibited in 1864 and is now in the collection of the Galerie Nicolas Vanneste.
His style is characterized by a detailed and nostalgic depiction of 18th century daily life, with a focus on the elegance and luxury of the period. His works offer an idealized view of aristocratic society, capturing moments of social interaction and entertainment.
Monfallet died in 1900 in Neuilly-Plaisance, leaving an artistic legacy that continues to be appreciated in the field of 19th century French art.
