BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
ISIDRE MANILS (Mollet del Vallés, Barcelona, 1948).
"Sarajevo's water", 1995.
Mixed media on paper.
Measurements: 43 x 32 cm; 57 x 45 cm (frame).
Painter and teacher at the Massana school in Barcelona. Inexhaustible source of his own stylistic resources, Isidre Manils manipulates reality through glazes and transparencies, brushstrokes like layers of diffused light that ignite the significance of his work. The search for "the cinematographic look of painting" is one of the constants of his long career and these links with the seventh art, so present in his production and which is evident in "Finis". His works open up to the filmic narrative, fragmentary and suggestive, unfolding a new and fertile creative horizon. In May 2022, the Fundació Vila Casas dedicated to him the exhibition "Fora de camp" at Can Framis (Barcelona), addressing different aspects of his career, intertwining meeting points between the different supports on which his painting rests. Other recent solo exhibitions: 2011 Palimpsest. Sis Gallery. Sabadell. 2012 Palimpsest. Cànem Gallery. Castelló. 2015 Les Portes del Paradís. Sant Lluc. Barcelona. 2015 Les Portes del Paradís. Cànem Gallery. Castelló.2017 Traspasseu-ho. La Mercé Cultural Centre - Vila Casas Foundation. Girona. 2017 Ficcions. Palau de l'Abadia de Sant Joan de les Abadesses- Fundacuó Vila Casas. Girona.
