From his early years, artistic creation was a fundamental axis in the life of Xano Armenter. His impulse to capture and interpret visual impressions was consolidated as a way of understanding and experiencing the world, fascinated from an early age by the way in which perception influences the construction of reality. This search led him naturally to transfer his sensations to the canvas, exploring the dialogue between form, light and emotion.
Trained in Barcelona under the guidance of leading masters of art and design with experimental approaches, he later moved to New York, where he immersed himself in a dynamic and transgressive artistic environment. There he absorbed the energy of a vibrant cultural scene and became imbued with the spirit of constant innovation that would mark his career.
Throughout his career he has developed a prolific exhibition activity in both national and international institutions and galleries. His solo exhibitions include those held at the Centre Cultural Terrassa (2020), the Castell de Benedormiens in Castell d'Aro (2019), the Galeria Àmbit in Barcelona on several occasions from 1987 to 2017, as well as shows in relevant spaces such as the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, the Sala Parés in Barcelona, the Commenoz Gallery in Miami, the 1551 Gallery in Los Angeles, the Catalunya Gallery in Tokyo and different editions of the ARCO fair in Madrid.
In the field of group exhibitions, his work has been part of important projects in Europe, the United States and Japan. It is worth mentioning his participation in the Fundació Miró (1979), the Armory Show in New York (1990), ARCO in Madrid, the Municipal Art Gallery in Los Angeles, the CDAN in Huesca and more recently in the Casa Museo Mater in Barcelona (2023-2024). These participations consolidate his presence in the international contemporary art scene.
At the same time, Armenter has carried out important artistic commissions, both public and private. These include frescoes for the Hotel Juan Carlos I in Barcelona (1999), an acid-etched glass wall for the Triangle in Barcelona (1998), a collection of stamps for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, as well as a series of murals, pictorial suites and collaborations for hotels, hospitals and wineries.
His legacy can also be found in permanent collections, such as the La Bib Collection at La Santa Projectos Culturales and the Fundació Eina in Barcelona.
