MIQUEL SALVADÓ JASSANS (Alforja, 1937).
"Landscape". 1979.
Oil on canvas.
Signed in the lower margin.
Measurements: 54 x 65 cm.
The landscapes of Iquel Salvadó Jassans were characterized by a luminous and expressive treatment of color, influenced by Mir and Van Gogh. He himself affirmed that the essential thing was to capture the spirit of what is represented, allowing himself to be seduced by light, colors and structures. His painting, deeply rooted in the land and nature, has been praised by critics such as Francesc Miralles, who defined him as "the closest and most vigorous link of the Catalan landscape tradition".
He was a self-taught painter. Miquel Salvadó Jassans is a Catalan painter, writer and art teacher. Graduate in Fine Arts and member of the Society of Onomastics, he has exhibited his work in several cities in Catalonia, France and Germany. At the age of 37 he began studying Hispanic Archaeology at the University of Barcelona, where he later studied Fine Arts. From 1987 he worked as an art teacher in various high schools in the province of Tarragona until his retirement. He was also co-founder of the theater group Els Passerells, the Ateneu Cultural Josep Taverna de Alforja and the magazine Vent de Serè.
Throughout his career he held numerous exhibitions in Catalonia and abroad, including exhibitions in Barcelona, Reus, Salou, Valls, Munich, Bordeaux and Toulouse. His exhibition Arrelats a la terra (2006) and the anthology 50 anys de pintura (2014-2015) summarize a solid, independent and deeply linked to the landscape and the Mediterranean light.
