Josep Santilari, is part of a generation of artists who, from Catalonia, have cultivated a painting of deep figurative sensibility and refined technique. From his early years he showed a natural inclination towards drawing and the meticulous observation of reality, a trait that would later become one of the hallmarks of his work. Formed in a context of artistic renewal in the Spain of the transition, Josep Santilari developed a visual language that combines academic rigor with a subtle poetic introspection.
His work focuses on the exploration of portraiture, landscape and the human figure, approached with a serene and restrained gaze that seeks to capture the essence of the subject beyond its appearance. Technical precision, compositional balance and delicacy in the treatment of light show a deep knowledge of the classical pictorial tradition, reinterpreted from a contemporary sensibility. Josep Santilari has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions.
His painting is distinguished by the silent atmosphere that envelops each work, where objects and figures seem suspended in a contemplative space. Through a measured palette and precise execution, Santilari proposes a vision of art as an act of observation and meditation, in which the artist becomes a mediator between visible reality and its spiritual dimension. Thus, his work is part of a current of poetic realism that keeps alive the tradition of the pictorial craft while updating it with a personal and timeless look.
