DESCRIPTION
MARTÍ CORMAND (Barcelona, 1970).
"Pink", 1997.
Oil on canvas.
Signed, dated and titled on the back.
Measurements: 38 x 38 cm.
Considered as a conceptual artist who uses hyperrealistic techniques, Cormand is known for his extremely detailed drawings, in which he represents oddities that are out of the established, thus requiring a more permeable vision of art. In his evolution we can appreciate a meticulous and precious treatment of light and color, gathering the teaching of hyperrealism but filtering that legacy through an intimate optic, resulting in a very personal work focused on the perfect capture of textures. Likewise, Cormand's work is characterized by the compilation of versions of great works in the history of art, resulting in artistic remakes inspired by completely different artists, such as Fred Sandback or Philip Guston. Trained in Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona and currently living in Brooklyn, Marti Cormand considers New York City an ideal place for the relationship with emerging artists, a city full of opportunities in which different styles and realities within the art world take place. Throughout his career as an artist he has exhibited in numerous galleries both nationally and internationally, highlighting cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, San Francisco, Toronto and New York.
