Bernardino Celià was formed next to Josep Ventosa, from whom he would receive a strong influence in the treatment of the landscape. This genre, the landscape, would be the main motif of his artistic work, specializing in the views of the north coast of Mallorca. His first exhibition took place in 1947, in his native town, Sóller, and later he would exhibit in other Majorcan cities, as well as in Valencia, Barcelona, Brussels or Antwerp. He won several prizes and awards, such as the first prize in the Landscape and Customs Painting Contest awarded by the Provincial Council of the Balearic Islands. Celià's style assumes some of the contributions of post-impressionism, such as the interest in the atmospheric capture, the light or the free and sketched brushstroke.
