"Woman in front of the mirror" is a representative piece of Lluïsa Sallent's interest in the female body as an emotional and pictorial territory, and in painting as a means of inner reflection rather than objective representation.

Lluïsa Sallent was initially trained in the workshop of Pere Pruna, who had been fascinated by the drawings that the young woman made as mere entertainment. Later she would train in the sculptural field, with the artist Joan Rebull. In 1980 she exhibited for the first time in the Sala Parés, with considerable public and critical success. Later she exhibited at the Sala Nonell in Barcelona and at the Alcolea in Madrid, in other galleries.
