Untitled. Diptych.

This diptych by Pedro García Ramos reflects his singular style, which combines a constant experimentation with materials and volumes, and an integral vision of the pictorial space, the result of his extensive background as a painter and designer. His work, developed since the mid-sixties, stands out for the progressive incorporation of metals, lacquered wood, and later transparent and reflective materials, as in this case, configuring pieces that transcend the traditional plane to dialogue with space and light.
Born in Huelva in 1942, Pedro García Ramos Sánchez has been a key figure in contemporary Spanish art and design. Founder in 1966 together with Macua of the pioneering studio Macua & García-Ramos, he contributed decisively to the development of graphic design in Spain, specializing in communication, museography, audiovisual production and cultural management. His prolific artistic career is framed within the Spanish avant-garde, participating from a young age in outstanding events such as the XXXIII Venice Biennale in 1966 and forming part of the Nueva Generación group.
García Ramos has also been an active cultural manager, holding relevant positions as president of the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid (1991-1995) and of the Spanish Association of Design Professionals (2000-2005), as well as general secretary of various artistic associations. His work has been recognized with numerous awards and is present in museums of reference, including the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid. Throughout his career he has had solo exhibitions in institutions such as the Galería Juana Aizpuru in Seville, the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo and several Fine Arts museums in Spain, and has participated in group shows of international scope that include the Paris Biennial, the Venice Biennial, and museums in South Africa, Chile, Germany and Belgium. This body of work and activity consolidates Pedro García Ramos as one of the great references of contemporary Spanish art and design, whose work continues to dialogue with the challenges of space, matter and perception.
