This landscape, articulated around a rural set dominated by high groves and stone constructions, is inscribed in the solid French landscape tradition that, from the XIX century, granted to the genre a full autonomy. In the first half of the 20th century, the landscape ceased to be a mere topographical description to become a space of subjective interpretation, where light, matter and structure acquire prominence.
The composition is organized by means of a vertical rhythm marked by the trunks in the foreground, which frame the architecture of the background and create depth. The brushstroke is loose, visible, especially in the mass of vegetation, where the greens are superimposed in brief, vibrant touches. This technical freedom reveals the assimilation of impressionist and post-impressionist lessons: atmospheric capture, chromatic fragmentation and interest in light variation.
