In this composition, the artist structures the pictorial space by means of large chromatic fields and simplified geometric forms, where the contrast between the dark tones of the background, the central earthy surface and the yellow rectangular elements generates a visual rhythm based on repetition and balance. The painting reveals a clear concern for the materiality of the surface and for the relationship between color, texture and structure. The wooden support reinforces this material-constructive dimension, while areas of flat color combine with areas of greater pictorial density, creating a dialogue between the organic and the geometric. The blue vertical strip on the right margin also introduces an element of compositional tension that breaks the centrality of the main form.
The work can be related to the development of late informalism and the trends of geometric and structural abstraction present in Spanish painting at the time, when many artists were exploring new forms of visual order based on formal reduction and experimentation with matter.
