The scene seems intimate and everyday, but it is treated with a free and expressive pictorial technique. The figure occupies almost the entire painting. The body leans towards the open book, which directs the viewer's gaze to the gesture of reading. The hands and arms guide the composition towards the center: the book, which becomes the core of the scene. The artist uses a soft palette of pink, ochre and blue tones, with loose brushstrokes. The colors do not seek strict realism, but rather to convey an emotional and calm feeling. The contrast between the blues and the warm tones creates an intimate, almost silent atmosphere, like the moment of concentration produced by reading.
