In this work the painter traces with meticulous brushstroke and rigorous and academic drawing the interior of a great church of Gothic style, following the inheritance of the painters of church interiors of the Holland of the XVII century. However, in this case the approach to the subject is completely nineteenth-century and, in fact, this will be a genre very much treated in Europe in this century. It is no longer a descriptive representation of a specific environment, with a costumbrist character, but an almost documentary reproduction of a historical space that is conceived as such, the result being a work that combines the decorative sense that so much attracted the clientele of the nineteenth century with an eagerness for detail typical of a scientific work.
