In this beach scene, Carles Nadal clearly displays the features that define his painting: a free figuration, with Fauvist roots, where color acts as the main constructive element. Influenced by the modern French tradition -especially by Dufy-, the artist transforms the coastal motif into a vibrant and synthetic image, more evoked than described.
The huts, figures and boats are organized in an open, almost intuitive composition, where perspective is subordinated to chromatic harmony. The loose brushstrokes and vivid tones -reds, blues and yellows- generate a luminous and dynamic atmosphere, in which the everyday becomes a joyful and stylized vision of the coastline.
The work thus reflects one of Nadal's constants: the reinterpretation of the landscape and the genre scene through a direct, spontaneous and deeply colorful language, which places his production within the continuity of 20th century Mediterranean painting.
Son of a painter and trained in Barcelona, Carles Nadal developed a career between Spain, Paris and Belgium, where he consolidated his language. Influenced by Fauvism, his work is characterized by the exaltation of color and a free figuration. He exhibited internationally and his work is present in collections such as MACBA and museums in Brussels and Belgium.
