The two compositions form a complementary set. In the first one appears a young fisherwoman walking along the shore at sunset, carrying baskets with fish. The warm light and the reflection on the wet sand create a serene and poetic atmosphere. In the second we see several fishermen on a dock or boat, dressed in working clothes and contemplating the sea under an overcast sky.
The brushstroke is loose and atmospheric, especially in the skies and marine reflections, with a palette dominated by ochers, grayish blues and golden tones.
