Regoudt was a Flemish painter specialized in landscapes, marine and portraits, recognized by his refined technique and his luminist sensibility. Born in Blankenberge, Belgium, in 1902, he studied at the Ghent Academy and initially trained with the sailor Gadeyne, who had a decisive influence on his interest in coastal scenes and marine atmosphere.
From 1929 he worked as an art teacher in Ostend, actively integrating himself into the Belgian artistic environment and quickly standing out as a portraitist of high society thanks to his elegant and flattering compositions. During the Second World War he emigrated to the United States, where he achieved great prestige in New York as a portrait painter, creating effigies of important public figures such as Herbert Hoover. He also taught and participated in several exhibitions.
After the war he returned to Belgium and continued to develop his artistic career, alternating teaching with solo exhibitions and running his own gallery. His work, characterized by a delicate brushstroke, a careful capture of light and a serene gaze on the landscape and the human figure, consolidated him as a leading figure in 20th century Belgian painting. In his last years he frequently resided in Mallorca, where he died in 1977.
