This work is rooted in a Surrealist aesthetic, articulated through an architectural space open to the sea and a fragmented female figure whose head has been replaced by a clock. The scene combines recognizable elements—arcades, a palm tree, the sea horizon—with an impossible human presence, creating a strange and suspended atmosphere.
The arcades, the empty perspective, and the stillness of the scene evoke the metaphysical atmosphere of Giorgio de Chirico, although here that legacy shifts toward a more fantastical and corporeal language. The architectural space functions not merely as a backdrop, but as a mental realm: a silent plaza where time, desire, and identity are suspended.
The clock, held by the figure herself, introduces a symbolic interpretation linked to the passage of time and the transformation of the body. The composition thus plays with the tension between reality and enigma: a luminous and seemingly serene setting is disrupted by a figure with a strong dreamlike quality, reminiscent of the imagery of late Surrealism.
The work stands out for its careful spatial construction, the clarity of its drawing, and a warm color palette dominated by ochres, blues, and soft flesh tones. Its appeal lies in the union of figurative precision, poetic estrangement, and metaphysical resonances.
