The work depicts a distinctly dreamlike scene, constructed from fragmentary figures that seem to emerge from a suspended, almost theatrical space. On the left, a figure wearing an orange coat raises a hand at the appearance of a large brass instrument, similar to a tuba, held by a figure with their back to us. The instrument, of disproportionate dimensions and rendered with gray washes and very loose contour lines, takes on an almost organic presence, as if music, body, and object were merging into a single vision.

Jorge Castillo is one of the most distinctive Spanish artists of the second half of the 20th century. Trained in both Spain and the Americas, he developed a broad international career in painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture. His work is characterized by imaginative and expressionist figuration. His work is represented in institutions such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Kunstmuseum in Basel, among other collections.
