The son of the painter Ribera Blázquez, he trained at the San Fernando Academy. In the 1930s, he focused on poster design, and during the Civil War, he worked as a commercial artist. In 1945, he was appointed professor of Life Drawing (Still Life) at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, where he eventually served as director from 1964 to 1972. In 1946, he was named an Honorary Member of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors, and the following year he received the same honor from the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, after winning the Ministry of National Education Prize at the capital’s Autumn Salon. A member of the San Fernando Academy since 1967, he was also a member of the Santa Isabel de Hungría Academy in Seville from 1971 onward. He won various awards in national competitions—notably the gold medal at the National Exhibition in Madrid in 1950—as well as international ones, receiving gold medals at the exhibitions in Brussels (1965) and Paris (1968).
