In this work, Fred Breebaart recreates an idealized vision of community life, marked by humor, nostalgia, and a flair for visual storytelling. The composition brings together numerous figures in an autumnal landscape organized across different planes, where children and adults stroll, fish, play, fly a kite, or chat by the water. The accumulation of small everyday scenes, the free perspective, and the deliberately simple drawing style place the composition within the artist’s characteristic naïve style.

Fred Breebaart began his artistic career in 1973 and developed a naïve style of painting recognizable for its small formats, luminous color palette, and profusion of characters. He spent part of his childhood in Curaçao—memories of which feature prominently in his work—and collaborated with galleries in Europe, the United States, and Israel.
