This work belongs to Bruno Pedrosa’s European period, which began after his move to Italy in 1990. During these years, the artist gradually moved away from his earlier figurative expressionism to develop a structured abstraction based on the prominence of color and the persistence of drawing as an organizing principle.

The small format encapsulates an exploration that is characteristic of Pedrosa’s abstract work during the 1990s: the integration of line, color, and texture into surfaces of great rhythmic density. This period also coincides with the beginning of his experiments with Murano glass, a material through which he would soon expand this same chromatic and expressive exploration.

Bruno Pedrosa trained in Rio de Janeiro and has pursued a multidisciplinary career spanning painting, drawing, sculpture, and glass. His work is represented in the National Museum of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro, the São Paulo Museum of Art, the Corning Museum of Glass, and the Alcorcón Museum of Glass Art.
