Miguel Cantón Checa was one of the leading figures of the Indalian Movement and a key figure in 20th-century Almerian art. Trained in Almería, Madrid, and Valencia, he stood out from a very young age after being selected by Eugenio d’Ors for the 6th Salón de los Once and winning awards at various national exhibitions. His work, rooted in landscape and Mediterranean identity, was featured in major exhibitions such as the First Hispano-American Art Biennial. In addition to his career as a painter and teacher, he founded the Argar Gallery in 1982, dedicated to promoting art from Almería. Recognized with numerous awards, his work is part of international public and private collections.
