María Carmen Corredoira lived in Madrid for two years, where she studied under Eduardo Chicharro y Agüera and José María López Mezquita. In 1909, she won the Gold Medal at the Santiago Regional Exhibition. Two years later, she received a diploma at the Mexico Exhibition. In 1935, she won second prize for her work “Convent Sacristy” at the Second Ferrol Art Competition. In 1924, she was named a member of merit of the Association of Painters and Sculptors of Madrid. In 1928, she joined the Seminar on Galician Studies. She served as the La Coruña correspondent for the magazine “Realidades.” Throughout her artistic career, she exhibited her work in numerous galleries both nationally (Galicia, Madrid) and internationally (Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Porto, among others). Her work was featured in Galician museums such as the Quiñones de León Museum in Vigo and the Provincial Museum of Lugo. In his early years, his painting focused on portraits and figures, characterized by an intimate style and, at times, a melancholic psychological undertone; his Galician regionalist style became more prominent after he moved to Madrid.
