José Seijo Rubio was one of the leading figures in Galician landscape painting during the first half of the 20th century. Trained at the School of Arts and Crafts in A Coruña and at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid, he developed a style rooted in Naturalism and Post-Impressionism, characterized by a luminous interpretation of the Galician landscape and an extraordinary mastery of atmosphere and light. His work received widespread recognition at national and international competitions, notably winning the Third Medal at the 1926 National Fine Arts Exhibition for *La Marisma*. In addition to his work as a painter, he played a fundamental role in Galician cultural life as the driving force behind and first director of the Museum of Fine Arts in A Coruña. His works are part of major public collections, including those of the Reina Sofía National Art Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts in A Coruña, cementing his status as a key figure in 20th-century Galician landscape painting.
