Ileana Mulet Batista is one of the most versatile Cuban artists of her generation. A painter, draftsman, designer, and writer, she has developed a solid artistic career in which the visual arts and literature converge—disciplines that constantly interact in her work, as can be seen in this piece. Trained at the prestigious San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts in Havana, where she specialized in interior design and costume design for television, she acquired a solid technical foundation that she later applied to a body of work characterized by expressive freedom and experimentation with different artistic languages.
Her international career is reflected in more than forty solo exhibitions and nearly sixty group shows in countries such as Cuba, Spain, Mexico, Italy, the United States, Colombia, Uruguay, and Jamaica, as well as her participation in prominent contemporary art fairs such as ARCO Madrid, the Marbella International Contemporary Art Fair, and Art Basel. At the same time, she has played a significant role as a cultural promoter, notably founding the first School of Fine Arts in Arauca (Colombia) in 2000.Her work is part of major public and private collections, including those of the Camagüey Museum, the Dance Museum, the Museum of Colonial Art, and the Museum of the City of Havana, as well as numerous international collections. A member of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), Ileana Mulet Batista has been recognized on several occasions for the quality and uniqueness of her work.
