Francesc d’Assís Casademont was one of those artists capable of creating his own distinctive and unmistakable style. He was able to convey in his paintings the same tranquility, gentleness, and warmth that he always displayed as a person. Regarded as a master of color and a great landscape painter, his work began to gain recognition thirty years ago, a time when he also discovered the island of Mallorca, which has since become a recurring theme in his paintings. His work focuses on the reinvention of the landscape through chromatic subtlety, a luminous and subjective atmosphere, and light brushstrokes. In 1962, he held his first solo exhibition in Barcelona, and since then he has shown his work in galleries around the world, in cities such as Madrid, Vienna, Paris, Mallorca, Bilbao, Washington, Rome, Zurich, and Miami, among others. He was also a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Barcelona, and in 1994 he was awarded the Cross of Sant Jordi. His work is currently represented in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, the National Museum of Graz in Puerto Rico, and the Musée d’Etampes in Paris, among others.
