A painter and professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Horacio Silva completed his studies in Fine Arts in the late 1960s, and it was during that period that he began his first phase, characterized by magical realism. By the 1980s, he had turned to expressionism, influenced by the interwar avant-garde, and around 1985 he began exploring material figuration. In the second half of the 1990s, he focused on what he calls “interior landscapes,” leaving room for figurative art, and from 1999 to the present, he has concentrated on his “Travel Notebooks,” which combine symbols and narrative. Throughout his career, Silva has held numerous exhibitions both in Spain and abroad, and his work is currently represented in the museums of Ibiza and Seville, the Museum of the City of Valencia, the Santa Bárbara Museum in Calabria, the Villafamés Museum, the Rotterdam Museum in the Netherlands, the Campione d’Italia Museum in Milan, the Salvador Allende Residence Museum in Chile, the Elche Museum of Contemporary Art, and the IVAM in Valencia.
