August Rosell began his painting studies at the age of thirteen at the Escuela de La Lonja in Barcelona, and then went on to the Escuela Massana. In 1970 he enters the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi, where he discovers the avant-garde of the time and acquires his own personality as a painter, consolidating his style. In 1975 he holds his first individual exhibition, in the Almirall room in Vilafranca del Penedès. The following year he held a new personal exhibition at the headquarters of the same gallery in Barcelona, and since then he has held personal exhibitions in various parts of Catalonia, Madrid and Valencia, as well as in Bremen (Germany) and Brussels. Within his career, the individual exhibition dedicated to his large-format work held in 2007 at the Fòrum Berger Balaguer in Vilafranca is particularly noteworthy for its importance. His work is characterized by a loose and light invoice, free brushstroke and somewhat blurred contours, with a special interest in the atmosphere, in this case lyrical and intimate.
