DESCRIPTION
MARTIN MUGNOLO (Argentina, 1973).
"The World from Below."
Oil on canvas.
Certificate of authenticity included.
Measurements: 120 x 88 cm.
“The World from Below” transforms a motif associated with leisure into a scene of estrangement. The unoccupied floats appear as absent bodies or suspended presences, while the water’s surface acts as a boundary between two worlds. Mugnolo thus transforms the swimming pool into an ambiguous space, straddling the everyday and the unreal, where light, color, and perspective generate a powerful visual tension.
Martin Mugnolo’s fascination with the beauty of hyperrealistic figures and the mysticism of Surrealism led him to develop different styles that coexist within his work to express his personal experiences.
