Mugnolo depicts water through a vibrant interplay of reflections, ripples, and white flashes that create an almost abstract surface with an organic, enveloping rhythm. Against this turquoise-blue background, the mat introduces an intense chromatic contrast, reinforced by the sheen of the plastic and the shadow it casts, which accentuates the illusion of floating. The work thus combines meticulous craftsmanship with a contemporary perspective on the mundane, transforming a light and ephemeral object into the absolute protagonist of the scene.

Martin Mugnolo’s fascination with the beauty of hyperrealistic figures and the mysticism of Surrealism led him to develop various styles that coexist within his work to express his personal experiences.
