The artist states that she sees drawing as a fundamental way to express everything that goes on in her mind; she captures the stimuli around her and uses it as a means of releasing emotions and dreams. In her works, there is an element of premeditated planning—such as the color palette and the arrangement of elements—but, according to Patricia, “the magic happens when color is given the freedom to materialize as a loose, imprecise, yet beautiful splash.” During her training as an architect, she developed a much more firmly grounded understanding of balance and composition. A fundamental premise in her work is the search for harmony between the patches of color and the empty spaces, in addition to the language of color itself. “The study of color is truly complex yet very rewarding, and it’s something you’re always learning about. In my works, I opt for intense, vivid colors. Explosive combinations full of optimism, paired with more neutral tones that provide the necessary stability.” Patricia Parra concludes by explaining that “Every artist has a story to tell, and it is always through experience and daily work that this story emerges most naturally. It’s important to have good references and to draw inspiration from other artists with similar styles—because that always helps you progress faster and with greater quality—as well as from other fields such as photography and film. Developing your own style is the riskiest path, but it’s a beautiful journey that’s truly worth taking.”
The artist has participated in several exhibitions between 2021 and 2022, including at the Thema Gallery (Valencia), at two restaurants, and at her studio in the Cabanyal neighborhood (Valencia) with the exhibition “Miradas.”
