In “Three Nice Guys,” Valeria Pesce extends her interest in living forms to the aquatic realm, another recurring motif in her work. Three isolated fish against a uniform background take center stage in a refined composition, in which the artist omits any environmental references to focus attention on the uniqueness of each figure.

The painterly treatment combines meticulous observation with evident chromatic freedom. The scales, fins, and translucent areas are rendered through subtle variations in texture and tone, while the palette of ochres, oranges, whites, and browns stands out against the blue-green background. The seemingly floating arrangement of the fish and their varying orientations introduce dynamism into an image of great structural simplicity.

Valeria Pesce studied graphic design in Cagliari and New York and, after living in Milan, settled in Barcelona in 1991, where she lives and works. Her work, created primarily in oil and acrylic, is characterized by figurative art with striking chromatic intensity and by her interest in the body, nature, and perception. She has exhibited in Spain, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Slovenia, and her work is included in private collections in Europe, the United States, Mexico, Japan, Hong Kong, and New Zealand.
