DESCRIPTION
JUAN NAROWE (Brazil, 1993).
"Leftover or untitled or something like the Zabriskie point final scene", 2025.
Acrylic on canvas.
Signed.
Provenance: Alzueta gallery.
Measurements: 162 x 130 cm.
In this painting, Narowe displays a surface saturated with signs, stains and apparently spontaneous strokes, where the acrylic behaves as an immediate register of thought. The painting functions as a field of remains, as the title suggests: visual fragments that are not organized hierarchically, but coexist in an unstable balance between chance and decision.
The cinematographic reference of the title -the final scene of Zabriskie Point- introduces a key reading within his artistic biography: the idea of symbolic explosion, of decomposition of inherited narrative and visual structures. As in previous stages of his work, Narowe is interested in the collapse of unitary narratives and in painting as a space where everything can coexist without being resolved.
Within his recent production, this work represents an affirmation of painting as an open process, where the canvas acts as an archive of gestures, errors, impulses and cultural references.
