As can be seen in this panel, Gabriel Portolés Ascaso develops a work centered on the figure and the exploration of color as a structural element, with a style recognizable by its balance between formal synthesis, visual poetry and references to the popular and the Mediterranean. His production is situated in a personal territory between contemporary figuration and decorative evocation, building images of strong symbolic presence.
Gabriel Portolés trained in Barcelona, at the School of Arts and Crafts of La Llotja and with Jordi Alumà. His artistic language is defined from the study of the techniques of the altarpiece, where he discovers the egg tempera painting on board, a procedure that becomes the constant axis of all his work.
