DESCRIPTION
LUIS PÉREZ (Valladolid, 1978)
"An instant of city captured between light, movement and silence", 2007.
Acrylic on canvas.
Signed in the lower right corner.
Measurements: 76 × 61 cm.
The urban scene is articulated in this painting by the outstanding hyperrealist painter Luis Pérez from an elevated framing of clear photographic character, where reality is fragmented into planes of light and shadow that structure the composition. The figures, reduced to black silhouettes with sharp profiles, move over an almost abstract space in which the shadows -long and forceful- become the true constructive element.
Luis Pérez's technical virtuosity is manifested in his ability to translate a fleeting instant into an image of great visual precision. The apparent immediacy of the scene hides a rigorous execution, based on the control of contrast, the definition of contours and formal purification. This synthesis converts the daily scene into an image of strong graphic impact and great contemporary intensity.
With a degree in Art History from the University of Valladolid, Pérez has developed a solid international career focused on the urban landscape. He has exhibited in reference galleries and fairs in London (Plus One Gallery), Zurich (Persterer Fine Art), Paris (Galerie Courcelles) or New York (George Billis Gallery), with outstanding solo shows such as City Lights (London, 2015) and Citizens (Madrid, 2017 and 2022).
He is currently represented by CK Contemporary (San Francisco) and Cavalier Galleries (United States). His work is part of collections in Europe, United States, Australia, Canada, Japan and Latin America, consolidating an international projection within the contemporary realism of high technical demand.
