A succession of curves and concentric lines constructs a form in this work that is both enclosed and, at the same time, passable. The broad turquoise strokes fold over one another to form a sort of labyrinth, vessel, or portal, the center of which remains partially open due to the paper’s natural texture. The brushstrokes retain the traces of their path, revealing the speed and pressure of the gesture.
The ochre glazes that envelop the central structure lend warmth and temper the intensity of the greens and blues. Over them appear dark, irregularly shaped patches—resulting from the absorption of the pigment—which introduce a textural counterpoint. The result possesses a meditative quality, based on repetition, circulation, and the balance between transparency and density.
