In this work, Terán subtly reinterprets one of the most recognizable icons of contemporary urban art, *The Flower Thrower*, an image created by Banksy that first appeared as graffiti in Jerusalem around 2003. The composition depicts a protester in the act of throwing an object, which is replaced by a bouquet of flowers, becoming a powerful symbol of peace, resistance, and hope in the face of violence.
As noted in the catalog for the exhibition *Tribute to the Geniuses*, Terán proposes the return of painting as a symbolic and conceptual strategy. His works function as conscious pastiches that seek not to copy, but to pay homage: a declaration of admiration for seminal artists in the history of art. Among them are names as diverse as Francis Bacon, Banksy, Chagall, Dubuffet, Fontana, Goya, Freud, Haring, Hockney, Warhol, Picasso, and Pollock, forming a universe as vast as it is personal. Far from responding to trends or stylistic lineages, this heterogeneity reveals a free perspective that transcends categories, styles, and chronologies, reinforcing the idea that there is no such thing as “art” per se, but rather artists.
Terán is a Chilean artist based in Spain, with a degree in Fine Arts and a solid international track record. Since his debut at the Salón de Otoño at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Santiago, Chile, in 1995, he has maintained an intense exhibition schedule in Latin America and Europe, combining the visual arts with new technologies applied to art. His work has been recognized with major awards, including one from the Royal Academy of San Carlos in Valencia in 2004, establishing him as a leading figure in the contemporary art scene.
