“The Giraffe of the Pact” is part of the series *Después de Miró* (*After Miró*), in which Lemagne’83 engages in a direct dialogue with the symbolic, playful, and poetic language associated with Joan Miró. Within this series, the work stands out for incorporating a more explicit narrative, structured around the presence of schematic figures, floating signs, and, on the far right, a giraffe that introduces a unique element into the composition.
The painting is set against a background of intense chromatic gradation—from deep blue to yellow and orange-red—which serves as a stage for a repertoire of geometric shapes, celestial bodies, elementary architectural forms, and stylized figures. The black line defines the composition with graphic clarity and structures a deliberately flat space, where each motif functions as an autonomous sign but also as part of a rhythmic visual sequence. The repetition of circles, ovals, arrows, and biomorphic forms reinforces the work’s symbolic dimension.
Enrique Lemagne Cárdenas, “Lemagne’83,” holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociocultural Studies from the University of Camagüey, Cuba (2012), and completed his training with photography courses at ICRT TV Camagüey in 2013. His work lies at the intersection of symbolic figuration, surrealism, and abstraction, with a particular focus on the sign, color, and the evocative power of the image. Notable among his recent exhibitions are the February Exhibition at Thomson Gallery, Zug, Switzerland (2025); the BIARCO Contemporary Art Biennial in Armenia, Colombia (2024); “Plural,” at Vearte Gallery, Alicante (2024); and the Small Paintings Exhibition organized by the Alicante Artists’ Association (2024).
