In the “After Miró” series, Lemagne’83 establishes a direct dialogue with Joan Miró’s visual vocabulary through a contemporary sensibility. More than a mere stylistic reference, the work reworks a universe of signs, biomorphic forms, and elemental structures to construct an image of great compositional clarity and remarkable visual impact. The composition is organized through a repertoire of circles, ovals, undulating lines, star-like symbols, and geometric forms suspended against a background of intense chromatic gradation. The alternation between bold blacks and saturated colors reinforces the painting’s graphic character and accentuates its internal rhythm.
*Homenaje* is particularly representative for the synthesis with which it articulates this dialogue between surrealism, abstraction, and the sign. Lemagne’83 captures the playful freedom and evocative power associated with Miró, but reinterprets them through his own imagery, in which formal reduction and chromatic intensity become the primary vehicles of expression.
Enrique Lemagne Cárdenas, “Lemagne’83,” holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociocultural Studies from the University of Camagüey, Cuba (2012), and furthered his training with photography courses at ICRT TV Camagüey in 2013. His work lies at the intersection of symbolic figuration, surrealism, and abstraction, with a particular focus on the sign, color, and the poetic dimension of the image. Notable among his recent exhibitions are the February Exhibition at Thomson Gallery, Zug, Switzerland (2025); the BIARCO Contemporary Art Biennial in Armenia, Colombia (2024); “Plural” at Vearte Gallery in Alicante (2024); and the Small Paintings Exhibition organized by the Alicante Artists’ Association (2024).
