The Montblanc 252, produced between 1957 and 1959, belongs to the classic series of the German firm and represents one of the most appreciated fountain pens of the transition between the post-war lines and the models that would define the modern identity of Montblanc. With its black resin body and its stylized design, this model embodies the discreet elegance of the brand in those years, also highlighted by a remarkably soft and flexible 14-karat gold nib, characteristic of the time.
Montblanc's history dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. Founded in 1906 in Hamburg by Claus-Johannes Voss, Alfred Nehemias and August Eberstein, the company was born with the intention of innovating in the emerging fountain pen market. Its name, inspired by the highest mountain in the Alps, symbolized from the outset the ambition to achieve excellence. In 1910 they officially adopted the name Montblanc, and soon after introduced the emblematic white six-pointed star-shaped emblem, representing the snow-capped peak of Mont Blanc as seen from above.
Over the decades, Montblanc refined its writing instruments and expanded its range of models. The 2xx series, of which the 252 is a part, was conceived to offer balanced, reliable fountain pens with the same quality craftsmanship as its superior lines, becoming a common choice for discerning professionals and students in the mid-20th century.
Today, Montblanc continues to expand its universe into watchmaking, leather goods and accessories, but historic models such as the 252 are still highly valued among collectors. More than just a pen, it is a testament to the functional design and precise craftsmanship that define the brand's legacy.
