The piece has been conceived through a sculptural concept characteristic of this time. It consists of a base with sharp edges, reflecting the taste for clean volumes typical of the aesthetics of the time, located on four legs, the two front ones decorated and with a volute format. In the upper zone of the base, extensively decorated with a vegetalizing pattern, in whose center stands out the presence of an auriga in his chariot pulled by two horses and in the upper zone the pediment of a temple. On this base rises a sculptural group composed of a figure of round bulk, representing a winged young woman dressed in a tunic, following models of classical inspiration and at the other end stands a richly ornamented base on which an amphora is arranged from which a flame departs. The sculptures are arranged both on the sides of the clock case, as well as in the upper area. This type of scenes were very common in the decoration of the table clocks, in many occasions mythical or religious characters were represented, linked to a historicist sense and aesthetics. The clock face has Roman numerals in black on a golden background, with hands following the typical Breguet style.
The bronze table clocks of the 19th century were key pieces in decoration and interior design, as well as symbols of social status and refinement. Elaborately crafted and often adorned with artistic motifs, these clocks not only served to measure time, but also reflected the technical advances and taste for fine craftsmanship of the time. Bronze, a durable and aesthetically appreciated material, allowed the creation of complex and elegant forms, integrating styles such as neoclassical or rococo, which made them highly valued objects in the residences of high society.
