DESCRIPTION
Louis XV style clock; Germany, late nineteenth century.
Porcelain and bronze.
Preserves bell and pendulum.
Presents flaws in the rear bezel.
Measurements: 45 x 30 x 15 cm.
Table clock, Louis XV style, from Germany and dated in the late nineteenth century. It is made of white enameled porcelain with gilded bronze applications. The design resorts to asymmetrical forms, undulating lines and abundant vegetal decoration, in accordance with the canons of the French rococo. At the top, a delicately sculpted winged cherub figure stands out, adding celestial and romantic symbolism to the composition.
The clock face features Roman numerals in cobalt blue and external minute track with Arabic numerals, surrounded by a finely worked bronze ring. The base, richly ornamented with scrolls and moldings, supports a central body of hollow structure with geometric fretwork that visually lightens the piece.
