Table clock with garnish composed of a central body with clock and two lateral candelabra of five lights each. The set presents a rich rococo-inspired sculptural decoration: idealized feminine figures and lovebirds in playful attitudes are harmoniously integrated into the architecture of the clock and the candlesticks, generating a continuous scene of gallant and domestic character. The chromatic palette, dominated by pastels, pinks, aqua greens and soft blues, is enhanced by delicate touches of gold, very much in the taste of the period.
This type of pieces arose in the context of nineteenth-century historicism, when Central European manufactures, especially German, reinterpreted with great virtuosity the French models of the eighteenth century to satisfy the taste of a rising bourgeoisie seeking sumptuous objects for the living room.
From an artistic point of view, the quality of the modeling, the fineness of the enameling and the compositional balance between the different elements stand out, which is evidence of a highly technical production. Aesthetically, the ensemble seduces for its narrative elegance and careful exuberance, achieving an immediate decorative effect without losing formal coherence. In today's market, this type of garnished clocks is particularly appreciated for its ornamental value, its scenographic strength and its ability to evoke the domestic luxury of the 19th century.
