Wall clock of the porthole type, a very popular model in the 19th century for bourgeois domestic interiors. It presents a circular mixtilinear case in walnut wood, with wavy moldings and ebonized profiles that create a decorative contrast characteristic of Elizabethan furniture.

The dial, signed, has Roman numerals in blue on white cartouches outlined in gold, arranged on a light background. The openwork metal hands reinforce the ornamental character of the piece, while the machinery incorporates hour and half-hour chimes.

The combination of walnut, dark moldings and enamel dial responds to the historicist taste of the time, in which the functionality of the watch was integrated into a case of marked decorative intent.
