DESCRIPTION

JUAN ANTONIO MUT TORROJA (Sitges, Barcelona, 1921 - Barcelona, 1990).
"Boats in the sand".
Oil on canvas.
Signed in the lower right corner.
Size: 54 x 65 cm; 75 x 86 cm (frame).
Painter, engraver and draughtsman, Antoni Mut Torroja trained at the La Lonja School in Barcelona. He made his individual debut in 1940 at the Faianç Català, where he exhibited a long series of humorous drawings and watercolours. Between 1947 and 1952 he lived in Paris, where he collaborated with the Hervè gallery in Montmartre. During these years he held exhibitions in Reims, Lyon, Toulouse, Nice, Antwerp and Brussels, as well as in the French capital. On his return to Barcelona he unveiled a new phase of his work at the Grifé y Escoda gallery, where he exhibited a series of Parisian landscapes.
