Wood carved and gilded with fine gold.
It has small wear consistent with its age, which do not detract from the attractiveness of the piece and give authenticity to its state of preservation.

Frame in carved and gilded wood, made in the 19th century, in late Rococo style with Baroque reminiscences. The piece stands out for its rich ornamentation based on scrolls, acanthus leaves, volutes and a pronounced central shell at the top, a classic iconographic element of the Rococo aesthetics.
The frame has a rectangular section structure with profusely decorated moldings in relief, in which plant motifs of naturalistic inspiration are combined with asymmetrical curved forms, so characteristic of the decorative style that dominated 18th century Europe and remained a stylistic influence during the 19th century, especially in the production of frames for portraits or mirrors of great decorative apparatus.
The carving is vigorous and expressive, with gilding that has acquired an attractive patina over time, revealing in some areas the underlying red bowl. This traditional technique of gilding on the bowl adds warmth and depth to the finish, enhancing the play of light on the curved surfaces.

These types of frames were common in palatial settings and bourgeois residences, used to frame portraits, religious paintings or as mirror frames. Their ornamental quality and sculptural presence make them highly attractive decorative pieces, even as independent elements.
